LIMA, Peru, May 9, 2015 – Argentina team continued unstoppable
while claiming their third victory without losses at the Final
Four U18 Volleyball Girls’ Gatorade Cup on Saturday.
The South American side did a quick job against Baja California
of Mexico winning in straight sets 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-14) in
just 72 minutes. They now await the outcome of the match between
Dominican Republic and Peru to know who will be their rivals in
Sunday’s title match.
María Corbalan and Brenda Churin were the only two Argentineans
to reach double digits in the scores with 17 and 10 points,
respectively. Veronica Gomez finished with 9 points for Baja
California.
Argentina dominated their opponents in all the fundaments as
they held the advantages in attacks (35-23), blocking (7-2) and
aces (4-2). The winners made 19 unforced errors to 29 by the
losers.
“Things resulted the way we planned,” Argentina’s captain Azul
Benitez said. “We didn’t underestimate the opponents and went
out to play hard. Now we are elated about playing for the title
in the final.” |
