Argentina eliminates United States Men

TOKYO, Japan, August 1, 2021 – Argentina defeated United States 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-23) in a dor-or-die contest for the last berth available in Pool A to the quarterfinals of the men’s volleyball tournament of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Argentina finished with a 3-2 record while the United States concluded at 2-3 and 6 points behind France (2-3, 8 points).

In the start-to-finish close match, Argentina out-served their opponents 7-1. In the rest of the scoring categories Argentina led in attacks (40-38) and blocks (8-7). The winners committed 21 errors to 20 by the losers.

Facundo Comte and Bruno Lima finished with 16 and 13 points, respectively, as the best Argentinean scorers. Torey de Falco with 13 and Matt Anderson with 11 led United States.
