Argentina rallied and scored second win
TRUJILLO, Peru, July 7, 2019 - Argentina turned the tables on
their opponents and claimed its second consecutive victory in
the Pan American Cup Series A, after beating Peru 3-1 at the
Gran Chimú Coliseum in Trujillo.
In 1 hour 48 minutes of action of game, the albicelestes that
were surprised in the first set by 18-25 would regain control
and won the last three sets by 25-21; 25-15 and 25-19.
Argentina took advantage of the errors in the rival defense and
surprised with the variety of their attack down the center,
which was very effective by the hands of their captain, the
center Julieta Lazcano.
Lazcano contributed 15 points for his selection, and was
followed by Yamila Nizetich and Daniela Bulaich who matched with
13 points each. In the Peruvian team, their captain Karla Ortiz
and Angela Leyva registered 15 points each, while their teammate
Clarivett Yllescas finished with 10.
The winning team dominated all the fundamentals of the game:
attack (51-46), blocking (12-9) and service (5-3).
Coach of Argentina, Hernán Ferraro: We had a first bad set, but
then we recovered. Although Peru played the third very well, we
took advantage of the opportunities, we improved our counter
attack, and the blocking in the key moments helped us a lot in
this result.
Coach of Peru, Francisco Hervás: In the first set we played a
very interesting game, but then Argentina made changes that put
pressure on us and we could not get out of that. The girls have
fought hard, but we made mistakes at key moments.
Argentina will seek to remain unbeaten when measured against the
Dominican Republic on Monday 8 at 18:00. Later, in the last game
of the third day of action, Peru will play against Canada at
20:00 hours. |
