SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, April 20, 2015 – Argentina
stormed past Nicaragua winning in straight sets 3-0 (25-8,
25-10, 25-8) for their second victory without losses at the U20
Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup on Monday.
The South Americans scored 9 blocks and 15 aces in the victory
over the weak Nicaraguans who suffered their second loss in as
many outings.
Anahi Tosi led Argentina with 21 points, including three aces,
followed by Candela Nota with 10 points.
“The serves were a big factor for our victory,” said Argentina’s
Captain Azul Benitez, who led her side with five aces. “They had
problems with their reception and we played consistently during
the whole match.”
“I think we played better than yesterday but once again had
difficulties with the reception and lost the focus even though I
think we can do better.”
Mauro Silvestre, coach of Argentina: “We must keep working to
correct the mistakes in our serves and to keep improving. Today
I rotated some of the players and worked on our blocking and
defense.”
Claudia Noguera, coach of Nicaragua: “Argentina team established
their serves which is fundamental. We received a little bit
better but the girls are not used to play at this level. These
losses are part of their development as they are able to see
what they lack.” |
