Mexico against Dominican Republic in NORCECA U-20 Gold Match
MANAGUA, Nicaragua, August 25, 2012. - Mexico defeated Costa
Rica in straight sets 25-16, 25-19 and 25-19 making it into the
final match of the NORCECA Women´s U-20 Continental
Championship.
All the players for the wining team had the opportunity to see
action. Mexico had advantage 5-1 in the blocking category and
Costa Rica 6-2 in serves. Mexicans will meet Dominican Republic
in the Gold match and booked one of the three spots available
for the 2013 FIVB World Championship in Czech Republic.
“Costa Rica seemed united and willing to do things right; we are
happy for the qualification and just as we did yesterday against
Cuba, we’ll try giving our maximum tomorrow” said Alejandra
Isiordia Mexican captain.
Angie Montero Costa Rica’s captain gladly said “our goal was to
play a good match and I feel we didn’t come short, Mexico’s
attitude is a very good one and I congratulate them for being in
the final match.”
Estanislao Vacino Argentinean coach for Mexico congratulated
Costa Rica for being in the final four of NORCECA showing an
important advance for the region “we were able to give rest a
set and a half to important players because they were worn out
from yesterday’s match, even though Costa Rica was with good
rhythm”. He ended by saying he is thrilled that they’ll play
Dominican Republic because their job is a serious one just as
they try to do in Mexico for the volleyball’s well being, “in my
opinion I believe that the American coach anticipated himself in
the results and gave his team rest during the day without taking
this seriously.”
Andres Carvajal said “it’s not a coincidence that Mexico is in
the final match, it’s the reflection of the job they’ve been
developing and it’s a model to follow and try to reach their
high level which. Taking as a start our preparation with Prof.
Perales, we´ve worked in improving our performance and setting
our own goals being realistic.”
