Tijuana celebrates volleyball one more time
TIJUANA, Mexico, August 6, 2012 — The Norceca U18 Womens’
Continental Championship was officially inaugurated this monday
night at the Baja California High Performance Center.
Local authorities as well as Norceca Vice-president, Glenn
Quinland, and General Manager and Control Committee President,
Nelson Ramírez were part of the personalities at the opening
ceremony that was followed by a Parade of Competing Teams.
Both, Quinlan and Ramirez attended in representation of Norceca
President and FIVB First Executive Vice-President, Cristobal
Marte Hoffiz.
The oficial declaration at the opening ceremony was made by Baja
California Sports and Physical Culture Institute Sports
Development Director (INDE), Cesar Osuna Brambila on behalf of
the local organising committee and INDE’s General Director, Saul
Castro Verdugo.
Also, on behalf of the Mayor of Tijuana, Carlos Bustamante
Anchondo, the Municipal Sports Director, Daniel Corona, welcomed
the attendants and the competing teams.
Along with the parade, the Athlete’s oath by Mexico’s captain,
Ivonne Martínez, and the Referees Oath by Maria del Carmen Durán
of Mexico, the opening ceremony also had a traditional Mexican
Dance performance.
The performance was made by the Xochipilli Folk Ballet as part
of the cultural activities that celebrated the return of the
International volleyball competitions in Baja California. |
