Betty Ann Augustine receives FIVB International Referee ID
MAYAGÜEZ, Puerto Rico, Augusto 29, 2011. - Referee Betty Ann
Augustine from Trinidad & Tobago, received a special surprise at
the Men’s NORCECA Continental 2011 Championship held in Puerto
Rico, as she received the FIVB Referee ID Card by hands of Marta
Centeno, Vice President of NORCECA and President of the Control
Committee.
“It is with great pleasure that I hand you the FIVB ID Card and
I wish to congratulate you for your splendid job” words of Marta
Centeno, who added: “as a woman I am very proud to have you on
board contributing with our Confederation.”
Betty Ann becomes the first woman Referee of English speaking
Caribbean Islands to receive a FIVB ID Card and FIVB Badge,
that certifies her as an International Referee which is of
great significance for NORCECA’s refereeing.
“This is a huge accomplishment for me, I was interested in
refereeing since my school years, and it is a wonderful
experience that couldn’t be possible without the help of my
Federation and NORCECA’s development program” expressed an
emotional Betty Ann.
Betty Anne initiated her career in volleyball as a scorer, in
2005 she became a National Volleyball Referee and in 2009 she
took the International Referee Course successfully, earning her
candidacy that today culminates in the FIVB accreditation. |
