men wins thriller against Trinidad and Tobago
PARAMARIBO. Suriname, July 25, 2023.- Bahamas won their second match in
Pool B against rival Trinidad and Tobago. At the Anthony Nesty Sport
Hall the Bajans overcome a five-set thriller 3-2 (18-25, 25-22, 19-25,
25-19, 15-11).
Bahamas second win in pool B during these Caribbean Championships means
they go on top of their group standings after winning their opening
match against Curaçao 3-1(25-20, 25-21,13-25, 25-8) on Monday.
Trinidad and Tobago look more the
confident in the first and third set leading the Bajans with a huge 10
points from attacks, 4 blocks and 3-0 in aces. But couldn’t finish off
the game in the fourth set. The experienced Bajan team outscored
Trinidad and Tobago in the fourth set to
forced a decisive fifth set against the Soca Boys. Bahamas committed 30
unforced errors and Trinidad and Tobago 45.
Outside hitter Kyle Wilson led
Bahamas with 20 points including 5 block and 3 digs. He is middle
blocker and team captain Byron Ferguson and middle blocker Hepburn
Shanari with 17 and 15 points each respectively. For Trinidad and Tobago
middle blocker and team captain Akim Bushe led the team with 15 points
including 3 aces. His teammate and outside hitter Daynte Stewart also
contributed with 15 points.
Bahamas will play their final group
game against Jamaica on Wednesday and Trinidad and Tobago will face
Curaçao.

best on the court. For now, we want to prepare for the game against
Jamaica. I know we can beat them also.”

must say that Bahamas been a very team and experienced. I love the
competitive spirit they give the game. This was not a poor game at all.
