Barbados Secure Second Consecutive Victory
with Straight-Sets Win Over Bahamas
WILLEMSTAD, Curaçao, July 19, 2026.- Barbados
continued their impressive run at the 2026 CAZOVA Men’s Final
Four Championship on Sunday, earning their second consecutive
victory with a commanding straight set (21-25, 18-25, 22-25)
triumph over Bahamas at the Sentro Deportivo Korsou (SDK).
With both teams eager to strengthen their position in the
standings, the opening set was fiercely contested. Bahamas
matched Barbados point for point for much of the set, but the
Barbadians maintained their composure in the closing stages,
capitalizing on key opportunities to claim the set 21-25.
Barbados carried that momentum into the second set, displaying
greater consistency in both attack and defense. Their
disciplined play and effective serving created separation on the
scoreboard, allowing them to comfortably take the set 18-25 and
move within one set of victory.
The third set saw Bahamas battle hard to keep the match alive,
producing several spirited rallies and refusing to back down.
However, Barbados remained composed under pressure, with timely
kills and solid defensive efforts helping them pull away late in
the set to seal a 20-25 win and complete the straight-sets
victory.
Culpepper, Barbados Coach enthusiastically shared, “I’m proud of
the team’s performance in the tournament so far, we’re one step
closer to the finals and I hope to stay consistent in the
upcoming matches.
Glenn, Bahamas Coach reflected; “I’m a bit more disappointed in
today’s match than yesterday, we made a lot of simple errors.
The more consistent team always win and today we were on the
inconsistent side.”
The result marks Barbados’ second consecutive win of the
tournament, securing their spot in the final championship match
with only one more match in the preliminary round.
