BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, December 12, 2015 - Defending champions
Barbados will appear in the gold medal match against first
timers Trinidad & Tobago after the Bajans won their CAZOVA
Junior semifinals match against Haiti 25-23, 25-16, 25-21 in the
Wildey Gymnasium in Bridgetown.
Led by a game high 19 points by Ahkeem Mayers and a massive
support from the crowd, Barbados were able to dull a spirited
fight from the Haitians who wanted to join their girls in the
finals.
However, the all round play of Barbados with Adam Niles
contributing 12 points denied the Haitians with none of their
players scoring in double figures. Haiti has actually seemed in
control of the first set which Barbados had to battle to capture
before controlling the other two sets and the game.
Coach John Stuart was confident that his team would continue to
play a high standard of volleyball to replicate the performance
of the 1997 team which won the inaugural CAZOVA Junior crown
when the event was also held in Barbados. |
