Barbados rally to beat Suriname in CAZOVA Under-19
SPANISH TOWN, Jamaica, July 24, 2019 - Barbados recovered from a
set down to beat Suriname 3-1 in the Caribbean Zonal Volleyball
Association (CAZOVA) boys' Under-19 championships at GC Foster
Colege Wednesday morning.
The Bajans overpowered their opponents with serves throughout
the match to come away 10-25, 25-22, 25-13, 25-21 victors that
enabled them to win their first two matches and hand Suriname
their first loss in three matches.
Barbados' coach Alwyn Oxley said, "it is the confidence in the
guys that enabled us to win. I always try to teach them to be
confident in whatever they want to do on the court. We started
the game slow and Suriname is a team that you can't really start
slow with, but the confidence in the guys allowed them to
recover.
Coach of Suriname, Getrouw Verdy, said, "our reception was bad.
It was very poor and basic. If we don't receive, we can't win.
Barbados was better and probably the service from them was
pretty strong." |
