Belize defeats El Salvador and secures a Medal
CHITRÉ, Panama, October 17, 2024.- Belize defeated El Salvador 3-1
(21-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-18) to secure a medal at the 20th AFECAVOL U21
Men’s Central American Championship in the Papa Francisco Gymnasium in
Chitré, Panama.
With the win, Belize secured a medal, finishing 4-2 with 19 points and
now awaits the completion of the day's matches to determine their final
position in the tournament. El Salvador finished with a 1-5 record and
10 points.
Belize held an advantage of 50-39 in attacks and 15-4 in blocks. El
Salvador performed better in serves, 8-4, and committed fewer errors,
27-30.
Belize’s opposite hitter Kaelen Ingram led all scorers with 24 points
(22 attacks, 2 blocks), followed by team captain Eleazar Mejía with 20
points (16 attacks, 3 blocks, one ace).
El Salvador’s captain, Abner Cano, led his team with 14 points (10
attacks, 2 blocks, 2 aces).

tournament. We won four matches, falling short in key games, but the
goal was to win a medal”.
