Belize strong spikes defeat Panama
BELIZE CITY, Belize, September 26, 2016.- Belize strong spikes
defeated Panama 3-1 (25-21, 25-12, 20-25, 25-17) on day three of
actions of the AFECAVOL Men’s FIVB World Championship
qualification tournament at St. Catherine Academy Center in
Belize City.
Belize brought out their killing spikes while stopping Panama.
In set two they held an early 5-0 lead, finishing the set
quickly, however their lack of consistency cost them set three
and the first set won by Panama in the event. Their strong
attack appeared once again as they held an extended advantage in
set four, earning their second victory for a 2-1 record. On the
other hand, Panama stands with 0-3 record.
The 6-2 advantage in serves and 38 opponents’ unforced errors
gave Belize the necessary boost to prevail. While in the other
skills, the numbers weren’t that significant with Belize leading
43-42 in spikes and scoring the same 8 points than Panama thru
blocking. Belize committed 23 errors.
Outside hitter Bryton Codd led Belize with impressive 23 points
and opposite player Karym Coleman added 13 points. Domingo Avila
led Panama with 12 points and Oswald Marshall scored 10 points.
Panama (0-3) will play against Honduras (1-2) on Tuesday and
Belize (2-1) faces Nicaragua (0-2). |
