HAMILTON, Bermuda, March 5, 2016 - Bermuda played host to the
annual Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA) general
meeting, which was held on March 5th 2016, at the
Newstead Belmont Hills hotel.
Present at the meeting were Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda,
British Virgin Islands, Dominica, St Martin, St. Maarten,
Grenada, Saba, St. Vincent, St. Eustatia, St. Lucia, St. Kitts
and Nevis and host Bermuda.
Also present were the ECVA and NORCECA Presidents Mr. Glen
Quinlan and Mr. Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, respectively.
Items discussed included Youth championships, the NORCECA beach
tour, Sports floor project in NORCECA, and NORCECA’s financial
transparency activities and continued coaching assistance.
It was also stated there will be an increase in the allotment of
volleyball equipment for 2016. In his report NORCECA’s
President outlined the many achievements made over the past few
years and impressed upon members the need to keep working so the
sport of volleyball can grow.
President Glen Quinlan of the ECVA, succinctly outlined the
growth and accomplishments of the volleyball grouping. He
focused his attention on courses that could be accessed by the
grouping and the upcoming events. Members were all giddy as
these events help the young athletes to develop.
The upcoming events are the Youth championships and the World
Championship Qualifiers. The dates for the former tournament
will be announced later, while the latter will be hosted in
several countries throughout the region. |
