Bethania De La Cruz the Most Valuable Player of Lima 2019 Pan Am

LIMA, Peru, August 11, 2019. – Outside hitter Bethania De La
Cruz of Dominican Republic was named as the Most Valuable Player
“MVP” of the eighteenth Lima 2019 Pan American Games after her
team was crowed champion on Sunday at the Multisport Complex El
Callao of Lima, Peru.
Dominican Republic defeated Colombia 3-1 (25-20, 19-25, 27-25,
25-16) winning their second gold medal in the history of the Pan
American Games after a sixteen year drought; while Argentina
beat Brazil 3-0 (26-24, 25-20, 25-21) in historic Bronze Medal
win, their first ever Pan Am medal.
Bethania De La Cruz indicated “I can’t describe the great
emotion of winning a Panamerican title; it’s something we
haven’t done since 2003. It’s an honor and great pleasure to win
the gold medal for our country. I am so happy with my team,
which is most important; having an individual award is something
personal that I will take home and always in my heart”.
