Bethania scores 35 in victory over Japan
BORYEONG, Korea, June 20, 2019 – Bethania de la Cruz scored 35
points, including eight blocks and seven aces, leading the
Dominican Republic to a 3-2 (25-17, 25-23, 24-26, 26-28 15-10)
victory over Japan in their last match for both teams in the
2019 FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League (VNL) on Thursday.
The Dominicans (8-7) finished in seventh position with Japan
(7-8) next in eight place.
Gaila Gonzalez followed Bethania with 17 points while sisters
Jineiry and Brayelin Martínez each registered 10 points.
Ai Kurogo came off the bench to lead Japan with 30 points
followed by Yuki Ishii with 21.
The Dominicans led in attacks (62-60), blocks (15-7) and aces
(11-6). Japan made 27 unforced errors compared to 31 by the
Dominican side. |
