BRASILIA, Brazil, June 17, 2022 – Brayelin
Martinez scored 23 points and four other
teammates reached double figures in scoring as
the Dominican Republic outscored the Netherlands
in five sets on Friday.
Yonkaira Peña and Jineiry Martinez contributed
14 and 12 points, respectively, and Madeline
Guillén and Gaila González added 10 each in the
3-2 win (23-25, 25-20, 25-21, 15-25, 15-7).
Anne Buijs had 19, all from attacks, to lead the
Netherlands. Fleur Savelkoel added 13, and Eline
Timmerman and Celeste Plak had 12 and 10 for the
losing team.
It was the second victory in their last three
games for the Dominican squad led by Brazilian
Marcos Kwiek.
Each team committed 23 errors and the Dominicans
had the better of attacks 69-67, blocks 8-6, and
serves 3-2. |
