TOKYO, Japan, July 30, 2021 – Brazil defeated
United States 3-1 (30-32, 25-23, 25-21, 25-20)
to improve its record at 3-1 in Pool B of the
men’s volleyball tournament of the Tokyo Olympic
Games. The Americans are tied in third place
with France and Argentina at 2-2.
The Americans committed 31 unforced errors
compared to only 15 by the Brazilians, who led
in attacks 70-58.
Ricardo Lucarelli, Yoandy Leal and Wallace de
Souza led Brazil with 19, 18 and 17 points,
respectively. Lucas Saatkamp chipped in with 12
points.
Matt Anderson and Torey Defalco were the top
scorers for the United States with 22 and 21
points, respectively, and Taylor Sander added
