CALI, Colombia, December 3, 2021 - Cuba and
Brazil in men and Perto Rico and Brazil in women
will be in the final of the beach tournament of
the Pan American Games Cali 2021.
In the men's semifinals played Friday, Mexico
and Cuba not only battled for the title but also
for Norceca's quota in the Pan American Santiago
2023 while Brazil entered the field with a
stamped passport for the intercontinental
tournament in the Chilean capital, won the day
before, since its opponent is the host for the
next Pan American Games.
In the afternoon, Cuba had no difficulty beating
Mexico and did so in straight and partial sets
21/19, 21/13, becoming the first finalist of the
men's tournament. Another important definition
of the day came from a confrontation between
South Americans. Chile with Aravena / Droguett
could not compete with Brazil of the world
champion twins in the U21 category - Renato and
Rafael and fell on 21/17, 21/18.
In the ladies' semifinals, Puerto Rico (Gonzalez
/ Navas) celebrated participation in the final
by defeating Mexico by 12/21, 21/18. Once again,
South Americans on the main court: Brazil
(Victoria / Thainara) and Peru (Allcca / Gaona).
Victory for the Brazilians by 21/14, 21/17 at
the end of the day.
The bronze medals will be contested by Mexico
against Peru in women and Chile in men.
In the morning, the sun provided the fourth day
of disputes from 13 to 16 place, on the Pan
American sands. Before that, Mexico (Gutierrez /
Albarran) and Canada (Tresham / Glagau) faced
each other for a place in the women's semifinals.
Mexico did it in three sets 18/21, 22/20, 16/14.
The games for the last places of the tournament
began simultaneously on two courts. Chile (Mori
/ Viviana) finished their participation in 15th
place, winning 8/21, 12/21 against Regis /
Hawkins of Antigua. In men, Bolivia, with Chacón
/ Salvatierra, beat Uruguay (Bailón / Gonzalez)
in a tie break 17/21, 21/17, 15/9, achieving
13th place.
The quarters squabbles soon followed. Puerto
Rico defeated Guatemala 21/14, 21/13 and
followed by Peru, with Allcca / Gaona
celebrating victory 21/19, 21/15 against the
Colombian Valdes / Beltran. With the victory of
Brazil (Victoria / Thainara) 21/13, 21 / against
the Paraguayans Janina / Laura, the crossing of
the semifinals remained: Puerto Rico vs Mexico
while Peru vs Brazil. |
