Brazil succeeds against Dominican Republic

 

BELEM, Brazil, 1 de junio de 2017 – The Brazilian women’s national team outplayed the Dominican Republic 3-1 (25-13, 17-25, 25-23, 24-14) in the second friendly match between the two teams in front of a 4,968 paid attendance at Paraense Stadium in Belem.

 

The friendly matches were in preparation for the volleyball season for both teams. The Brazilians will play the Montreux Volley Masters, the Grand Prix, the South American and the Champions Cup while the Dominicans will compete at the Pan American Cup, the Grand Prix and the NORCECA Championship.

 

Opposite Tandara was the top scorer for the Brazilians with 19 points, followed by Rosamaria and Natalia each with 12 points and middle blocker Carol with 10 points. For the Dominican side the best scorer was Yonkaira Pena with 13.

 

With the match tied 1-1 in sets, Brazil started the third set leading 5-2 but the Dominicans grew up in production to tie at 8-all. The Brazilians opened a three-point lead at 13-10 but their opponents tied at 16-16 and opened a 22-19 lead taking advantage of Brazilian errors. Then Brazil reacted to take the set 25-23 following reception difficulties from the Dominican side
