Brazilian Cardoso elected MVP at U21 Pan Am Cup

 

FORT MCMURRAY, Canada, May 21, 2017 – Victor Cardoso, the top scorer of the Brazilian team that won the U21 Men’s Volleyball Pan American Cup, was elected the most valuable player of the tournament on Sunday.

 

Cardoso, who finished the tournament with 54 points, reserved 16 of those points to lead Brazil in the title match against Cuba held at the Syncrude Sport and Wellness Centre at Keyano College in Fort McMurray.

 

Teammates Henrique Honorato and Jordan Pereira were the other Brazilian players recognized during the award ceremony as second best outside hitter and best receiver, respectively.

 

Canada’s Eric Loeppky whose team finished the competition with the bronze medal, registered a total of 100 points to conclude as the top scorer. Flynn McCarthy was the other Canadian among the awarded players as second middle blocker.

 

Cuba’s Miguel Gutierrez took home the awards as best opposite and best server. He was one of five Cubans in the ideal team.

 

Miguel Lopez was the first outside hitter and Javier Concepcion the first middle blocker. Adrian Goide was the best setter and Lionnis Salazar the best digger.

 

Chile’s Lucal Cavin was the best libero.
