CAZOVA World Championship Qualification Postponed
PORT
OF SPAIN, Trinidad, July 9, 2020 - A meeting of the CAZOVA
National Federations was held on July 1, 2020, chaired by CAZOVA
President, Mushtaque Mohammed.
In
our last release of March 27, we advised that the Senior World
Championship Qualification originally scheduled for June and
July were being postponed due to COVID19, with rescheduled dates
to be advised.
However, we note that the situation as it relates to the spread
of the virus has not abated, which has severely hampered
countries ability to train, with borders still closed or open
with restrictions.
Due
to the uncertainty, CAZOVA has taken the decision to cancel all
championships for 2020. This includes the CAZOVA U23
Championship which was scheduled to have taken place in the
Dominican Republic in June.
NORCECA has also taken the decision to cancel the beach tour
which was due to start in Mexico. The semi-final of the Olympic
Qualification tournament is currently scheduled for Nicaragua
from the 27-29 August 2020 but CAZOVA president is not
optimistic that that tournament will celebrated as the Covid-19
cases are increasing and countries borders are not yet open.
CAZOVA Qualification rounds of the 2020 world championships were
also cancelled. We will revisit our options to host these events
later this year to be able to reschedule the events for 2021
also taking into consideration the status of Covid-19.
Any
further information regarding these tournaments will be advised
accordingly. |
