Cafeteros Move Up to Second Place; Gigantes de Adjuntos
Climb with Win in Lares
GUAYNABO, Puerto Rico, November 20, 2025. – While at the Mario
“Quijote” Morales the Cafeteros de Yauco defeated the Guaynabo Mets
in straight sets, at the Félix Méndez Acevedo Coliseum the Gigantes
de Adjuntos handed the Patriotas de lares their fourth loss of the
season, and second in a row, in Thursday night action of the Men’s
Superior Volleyball League (LVSM).
Yauco’s victory over Guaynabo was sealed with scores of 25-21,
25-22, and 25-21.
The
Cafeteros dominated in attacks (40-31), blocks (9-5), digs (36-28),
and assists (27-14). Guaynabo, meanwhile, performed better in aces
(5-3) and receptions (39-35).
With
the win, Yauco moved up to second place in the standings, tied with
the Plataneros de Corozal, improving to 8-3 with 21 accumulated
points.
Guaynabo, which failed to score any points, remains in the cold
cellar alongside the Changos de Naranjito, with a 2-9 record and
eight points.
Yauco’s double-digit offense was led by Brandon Rattray (20 points),
Jessie Colón (11), and Juan Felipe Castañeda (10). For Guaynabo,
Inovel Romero contributed 16 points.
In
Lares, Adjuntas earned three points to take over sixth place by
defeating Patriotas with set scores of 22-25, 25-21, 25-22, and
25-19, improving to 3-8 with 11 accumulated points. Lares dropped to
fourth place with a 7-4 record and 20 points.
With
21 assists, Joseph Kauliakamoa distributed the offense to three
players who reached double digits. The main spark was William Rivera
with 19 points (17 kills and 2 blocks). He was followed by Mark
Olsen (11) and Cristian Encarnación (10). Kauliakamoa himself also
joined the offensive “feast” with 10 points (6 kills, 2 blocks, and
2 aces). |
