Caguas Starts Strong in Semifinal B; Cangrejeras

Close In on First Spot in the Finals

Caguas, Puerto Rico, April 10, 2026.- While at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum the Santurce Cangrejeras moved within one win of advancing to the Women’s Superior Volleyball League (LVSF) Final Series, at the Roger Mendoza Coliseum, the 15-time champions Criollas de Caguas defended their home court with authority, defeating the Leonas de Ponce in the opening match of Semifinal B.

Caguas claimed the victory with scores of 19-25, 25-15, 25-17, and 27-25, to open the best-of-seven series.

The fourth set delivered a dramatic finish. The Leonas attempted to force a decisive fifth set by taking a 21-19 lead, following a block by Sherridan Atkinson on Temi Thomas-Ailara (20-19) and a kill by Claire Chaussee off the hands of the Caguas block (21-19).

However, the Criollas responded firmly: a quick middle attack by Alba Hernández and an attack error by Chaussee tied the score. From that point on, both teams traded ties from 22 to 25, until Caguas closed out the set and the match with a running attack from zone two by Diana Reyes, followed by an attack error from Atkinson on the outside.

Caguas’ offense was led by Temi Thomas-Ailara with 22 points, followed by Jenaisya Moore with 15 and Diana Reyes with 14.

For Ponce, Atkinson scored 22 points, Chaussee added 16, and Abby Akey contributed 10.
