Canada Defeats Venezuela at the Pan American Cup

LEÓN, Mexico, September 14, 2026.- Canada defeated Venezuela in straight sets 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-15) on Monday at the Domo de la Feria in León, Guanajuato, improving its record to 1-2 in Pool A of the 2026 Women’s Pan American Cup.

Canada will close out pool play on Tuesday against Nicaragua, which also holds a 1-2 record, at 6:00 p.m., a match that will determine a spot in the quarterfinals. Venezuela, meanwhile, concluded the preliminary round with a 0-4 record.

Canada set the pace with its advantage in attacks and blocks. After controlling the first set, Venezuela put up more resistance in the second, but the Canadians managed to close it out 25-21 and once again dominated the third to complete the straight-set victory. Canada’s strong finish in the third set confirmed its control of the match, as it built a 19-9 lead.

The Canadians outscored Venezuela 42-22 in attacks and 11-4 in blocks. Venezuela held a 5-2 advantage in aces, while errors were nearly even, with Venezuela committing 20 and Canada 19.

Payton Henderson led Canada with 16 points, Talia Attieh added 14 and Jessica Andrews finished with 10. Daniela Azocar was Venezuela’s leading scorer with 11 points.
