Canada Takes World League Bronze

CURITIBA, Brazil, July 8, 2017 - Canada defeated USA 3-1 (18-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-21) to collect an unforgettable 2017 FIVB Volleyball World League bronze medal in the final day of action in Curitiba, Brazil on Saturday.

France overcame Brazil 3-2 (21-25, 25-15, 25-23, 19-25, 15-13) to become the new FIVB Volleyball World League champion at the closure of the 2017 edition, on Saturday in Curitiba, Brazil.

With 13 points of John Gordon Perrin, Canada wrapped up a marvelous FIVB Volleyball World League campaign. Captain Perrin wasn’t alone for Canada as several players had similar numbers - Sharone Vernon-Evans and Graham Vigrass completed 12 points each and reserve player Ryley Barnes had a key entrance with 10 tallies.

USA had the two most prolific scorers of the match as Taylor Sander and David Smith gathered 14 points apiece, followed by the 12 of both Thomas Jaeschke and Benjamin Patch.

Canada's next challenge will be the NORCECA Continental Championship, from September 24 to October 2, in Colorado Springs, USA. The top five teams of the tournament will qualify to the 2018 FIVB World Championship.
