Canada Tops Venezuela at Women's U21 Pan American Cup

COLUMBUS, Ohio, July 8, 2026. – Canada earned its second consecutive victory at the 2026 NORCECA Women’s U21 Pan American Cup with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-20) win over Venezuela on Wednesday at the Covelli Center in Columbus, Ohio.

The victory improved Canada's record to 2-0 in Pool A, while Venezuela dropped to 0-2.

Canada controlled the match in every statistical category, leading Venezuela in attacks (38-27), blocks (7-2), and service aces (4-2).

Canada will close the preliminary round against the United States on Thursday. Depending on the outcome of the Americans' match later on Wednesday, the contest could determine first place in Pool A and the direct berth to the semifinals.

Logan King led Canada's offense with 13 points, followed by Maya Bukovcan with 11 and Elodie Lalonde with 10.

For Venezuela, Ainhoa Molleja was the match's leading scorer with 14 points, while Anarela Mejías added 5.

Matthew Krueger, Canada’s coach: “I think we did a good job. We started a little slowly, but then we made adjustments and took control of the match. I was also really pleased with the players who came off the bench because their progress is evident.”

Iván Márquez, Venezuela’s coach: “We started the match a bit slowly and couldn't get ourselves into the contest. At times we played more organized volleyball, but we couldn't maintain the consistency needed throughout the match.”
