Canada advances to championship match with

straight-set victory over Dominican Republic

COLUMBUS, Ohio, July 11, 2026. – Canada dominated the opening two sets and held off a late Dominican Republic rally in the third to claim a 3-0 (25-8, 25-14, 25-22) victory, advancing to the gold-medal match of the 2026 NORCECA U21 Women's Pan American Volleyball Cup at the Covelli Center in Columbus, Ohio.

The Canadians controlled the match with advantages in attacks (38-15), blocks (9-7), and service aces (5-3).

Logan King led Canada's offense with 16 points, followed by Elodie Lalonde with 11, while Maya Bukovcan and Carmen Waye added 9 and 8 points, respectively.

For the Dominican Republic, Rayni Mondesí scored 10 points, while Yalyn Filpo and Virelys Rivera contributed 4 and 3 points, respectively.

After cruising through the first two sets, Canada had to withstand the Dominicans' strongest challenge in the third. Dominican Republic erased an early deficit and tied the score at 22-22 before Canada scored the final three points to seal its place in the championship match.

Mathew Krueger, Canada's head coach: "I think we played a very good match today. We've been making adjustments to both our offense and defense throughout the week, and I believe this was our team's best performance in executing our game plan."

Alexandre Ceccato, Dominican Republic's head coach: "It was a difficult match. The girls started very nervous and showed a lot of respect for the Canadians. We improved in the third set, but it wasn't enough. Now we'll prepare for tomorrow and fight for the bronze medal."
