Comments:
Craig Ireland, outside hitter Canada: “This was our first game
where we really came together, so it was really nice to see
everyone having fun; our defense and passing were really good.
We’re a good passing team and we didn’t show it in our previous
games, we did some nice block touches and digs in the back.
We’re a new team and this was a new environment for us, so it
took us a little too long to come together.
John Barrett, coach Canada: “I am very happy for my players
because we executed what we wanted to do and we finally showed
the level that we can play at. We didn’t miss nearly as many
serves as before so it’s a good feeling to come out with a
victory; it was a better rhythm because of the serving. We
didn’t break our own rhythm so we got a chance to play more”.
Henry López, captain Dominican Republic: “We didn’t perform with
our usual energy, because we had difficulties with Canada’s
strong serves and blocking, forcing us to make some using less
experienced players to try and recover”. |
