Canada and Cuba start winning in 9-16 round
MANAMA, Bahrain, July 22, 2019 – Canada defeated Puerto Rico to
win 3-1 (25-19, 25-14, 19-25, 25-17) in Pool G for the 9-to-16
positions of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s U21 World Championship.
Alex Tournier, Jackson Bere and Xander Ketrzynski each scored 15
points for Canada, Fynnian McCarthy and Brodie Hofer added 13
and 12 points, respectively. Pedro Molina and Johan Leon led
Puerto Rico with 12 points each, while Sebastian Negrón added
10.
Canada dominated in attacks (52-40), blocks (9-2) and serves
(11-5).
Meanwhile, in Pool H, Cuba breezed past Tunisia in straight sets
3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-22).
Jose Miguel Gutierrez, Julio César Cárdenas and José Carlos
Romero each recorded 12 points for Cuba. Yasine Abdelhedi had 15
points for Tunisia. |
