Humana-Paredes/Taylor Pischke and United States’ Jennifer Fopma/Brittany
Hochevar and Summer Ross/Lane Carico are among the women’s
undefeated teams at the FIVB Puerto Vallarta Open, the season
opening event on the 2016 Beach Volleyball Tour.
Puerto Vallarta is one of three cities to host an international
FIVB beach volleyball event. Others have been Acapulco and
Rosarito Beach.
Humana-Paredes/Pischke defeated Austria’s Schutzenhofer/Plesiutschnig
2-0 (21-16, 21-18) and Czech Republic’s Galova/Olivova 2-0
(21-15, 21-14).
Fopma/Hochevar won 2-0 (21-19, 21-15) over France’s Longuet/Jupiter
and 2-0 (21-16, 21-17) against compatriots Emily Stockman/Megan
Wallin.
Ross/Carico outplayed Norway’s Kongshavn/Kjolberg 2-0 (23-21,
21-13) and beat Mexico’s Claudia Rios/Gloria Santoyo 2-0 (21-10,
21-10).
USA’s Heather McGwire/Amanda Dowdy lost a three-set duel to
Vanuatu’s Matauatu/Pata 2-1 (22-20, 15-21, 15-8) but recovered
to outduel 2-0 (29-27, 22-20) Germany’s Bieneck/Grobner.
Costa Rica’s Karen Cope/Nathalia Alfaro, and Mexico’s Rios/Santoyo,
Stephanie Burnside/Zaira Orellana and Bibi Candelas/Ana Rios
lost their first two matches in pool play. |
