Canada and the United States secure direct tickets in the Women’s Quarterfinals

SANTIAGO, Chile, October 23, 2023 - Brandie Wilkerson/Melissa Humana-Paredes from Canada and Corinne Quiggle/Sarah Murphy from the United States advanced directly to the quarterfinals of the Women’s Beach Volleyball tournament at the 2023 Santiago Pan American Games.

Brandie and Melissa finished undefeated in Group D, beating Paraguay’s dúo of Erika Mongelos/Michelle Valiente, 2-0 (21-13, 21-8) on day three of competition.

In Group B, Corinne Quiggle/Sarah Murphy from the United States defeated Ana Gallay/Fernanda Pereyra from Argentina, 2-0 (24-22, 21-17), for first-place and advancing to the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, Lisbeth Allcca/Claudia Gaona from Peru prevailed over Guatemala’s Natalia Girón/Paola Alvarado, 2-0 (22-20, 21-10) in Group D.

In the elimination matches scheduled for Tuesday to determine the teams advancing to the quarterfinals, Gallay/Pereyra (ARG) will face Payano/Almanzar (DOM), and Erika/Michelle (PAR) will compete against Allcca/Gaona (PER).

The quarterfinal round will take place on Wednesday at the Beach Volleyball Center in Parque Peñalolén.
