SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 15, 2024.- Team Canada battled
for three sets with Puerto Rico and at the end won with 3-0 (25-22,
25-21, 25-23) to start the XVII Pan American Men's Volleyball Cup with a
victory at the National Volleyball Pavilion.
The Canadians dominated in attacks 48-30, in blocks 7-4 and in serves
7-1.
Jordan Canham and Jesee Elser were the top scorers for Canada with 17
and 14 points respectively. For Puerto Rico, which now has a record of
(0-2), Pedro Molina scored 12 points, while Klistan Lawrence contributed
another 10.
Jesee Elser, captain of Canada:
It was a very entertaining match, we had a good performance on the
court, there was a small delay in the game, but we knew how to keep the
team's spirits up, no one complained, and I think we showed it with our
performance.
Dennis Del Valle, captain of Puerto Rico:
I think we had a good match despite the result because we were fighting
all the sets but after point 20, they knew how to handle the situation
better than us and I think that was the difference in the game, we have
a young team and we have to learn from those experiences. |
