Canada qualifies to VNL 2020
LIMA, Peru, June 30, 2019 – Canada qualified to the FIVB Women’s
Volleyball Nations League of next year following a
mouth-watering battle of five sets against a tough team of Czech
Republic.
The North-American squad survived a strong reaction from the
European side to prevail in the decisive match 3-2 (25-17,
25-16, 21-25, 23-25, 15-8).
Alexa Lea Gray led four Canadians with double figures in the
scoring with 27 points, Jennifer Cross was next with 17 while
Kiera Van Ryk and Emily Maglio each had 15 points.
Michaela Mlejnkova topped the charts of Czech Republic with 17
points while Eva Svobodova and Tereza Patockova each had 12.
In the match for third place, Argentina swept Croatia 3-0
(25-19, 25-18, 25-14) with Lucia Fresco as the best scorer for
the South Americans with 19 points.
