OTTAWA, Canada, June 13, 2022 - Canada gave the
local fans a win to savor in the final match of
the FIVB Men's Volleyball Nations League Ottawa
phase by beating Bulgaria in five sets.
The home boys won the first two sets and seemed
on path to a comfortable victory but had to
battle a resilient Bulgaria before winning 3-2
(25-18, 25-18, 24-24, 21-25, 15-11).
Five Canadians led by Timothy Stephen Maar’s 25
points reached double figures. The others: Ryan
Sclater (17), Nicholas Hoag (14), Jackson Howe
(13) and Lucas Van Berkel (11).
Aleksandar Nikolov led Bulgaria with 17 points,
followed by Asparuh Asparuhov with 15.
Canada finished the first week with a 1-3 record
while Bulgaria concluded with a 0-4 mark. |
