SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, September 5, 2021 – Canada remained undefeated after three outings at the Men’s Volleyball Pan American Cup following their victory over Puerto Rico 3-1 (25-19, 23-25, 25-20, 25-19) on Sunday.

Jackson Howe, Brodie Hoffer and Jesse Elser finished with 17, 16 and 15 points, respectively, as the top scorers for Canada. Isaiah Olfert and Jordan Schnitzer each contributed 8 points in the victory.

Pedro Molina was the only Puerto Rican player who reached double figures in the scoring sheets. Puerto Rico dropped to a 0-3.

Ben Josephson, coach of Canada: “Puerto Rico is a very tactical team and put some pressure on us at the beginning. We were able to overcome that situation and move forward. Also the defense of Puerto Rico is very good but we came out winners again.”

Alberto Torres, coach of Puerto Rico: “We are down to the same. We have been the victims of the mistakes with our serves. I have seen improvement of our team with the tournament, our game has been better but we keep missing with our serves and we have paid for it.”
