CALGARY, Canada, June 29, 2022 – Canada scored
an upset victory over Turkey to start at home
the third and final week of the FIVB Women’s
Volleyball Nations League.
Despite giving away 31 points via unforced
errors, the home girls took the victory in four
sets 3-1 (25-22, 21-25, 25-22, 25-23). Canada
improved to 4-5 in the standings while Turkey
fell to 5-4.
The Canadians held a slight advantage in attacks
54-51 and serves 6-5 but overwhelmed their
opponents in blocks 14-4.
Alexa Gray and Kiera Van Ryk led Canada with 22
and 20 points while Hillary Howe added 14 in the
victory.
Ebrar Karakurt led all the players in the match
with 23 points for the losers. Zehra Gunes also
reached double figures with 15 points. |
