Canada vs Czech Republic for spot in VNL 2020

LIMA, Perú, June 29, 2019 – Canada will clash with Czech Republic in the decisive match of the FIVB Women’s Challenger Cup on Sunday at Manuel Bonilla Coliseum of Miraflores.

The winner will play next year in the FIVB Women’s Nations League as replacement of the lowest ranked team of the 2019 edition.

In the semifinals of Saturday, Czech Republic swept Argentina 3-0 (25-16, 25-19 25-23) while Canada did the same against Croatia 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 26-24).

Gabriela Orvosova and Andrea Kossanyiova were the best scorers for the Czech side with 14 and 11 points, respectively. Erika Mercado led Argentina with 13 with Elina Rodríguez next with 9.

Alexa Lea Gray once again led Canada with 17 points, followed by Kiera Van Ryk with 10 and Emily Gablio with 9. Samanta Fabris had 17 for Croatia.
