Canada waited until the end of the regular
series to stamp their first win of the NORCECA
Final Six of the Pan American Series.
They put aside the Mexican squad in straight
sets by scores of 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 21-25,
27-25on the middle contest of Thursday afternoon
at the National Palace of Volleyball Ricardo
Arias at Olympic Dominican Center.
Canadians Calkins, Attieh, Van Buskirk and
Heppell led the North American side with 17, 13,
11 and 10, respectively to the success. Karina
Flores finished with 10 for Mexico.
Melissa Langegger, captain of Canada: I
think we show a lot of fight we trying prove us
that we are a team and show what we can do and I
think we really show that in our game today we
executed well in every point and that gave us
the victory.
Jocelyn Urias, captain of Mexico: We
entered the court to win, to give it our all,
obviously they also came with the same attitude,
it was a very hard-fought match in all sets but
Canada ended up getting the victory. |
