TRUJILLO, Peru, July 8, 2019 - Canada defeated Peru team 3-0
(25-22, 25-14, 25-22) increasing to 12 points in Group A of the
Women's Pan American Cup of Seniors.
The Canadians defeated the host team taking advantage of the
defensive errors of Peru, which sought to recover with the power
of the attack of Angela Leyva, who was the highest scorer of the
game with 14 points.
On the Canadian side, Kiera Van Ryk was the best player with 11
points. The winners surpassed their rival in attack (35-32) and

direct points.
Top scorer of Canada, Kiera Van Ryk: We had fun. It is always
difficult to face a team when playing at home, but it puts
excitement to the game and we tried to keep our energy to not
leave the game. As a team we play very well, we build our match
goal by match and that makes us happy.
Top scorer of Peru, Angela Leyva: Although there was no chance
to win today, we still have our heads up. Peru is a united team
that fights with claw and heart; this is not over yet and we
will fight with a lot more desire in the next match.
Canada will play its next game against the leader of Serie A,
the Dominican Republic, in what promises to be an electrifying
match scheduled for this Tuesday, July 9 at 6:00 p.m.
Then, at 8:00 pm it will be the turn of Peru, to be reconciled
with the victory, when it faces Cuba. |
