 Canada, El Salvador, Cuba and Dominican Republic Advance to Men’s Semifinals at NORCECA Tour Finals 

JUAN DOLIO, Dominican Republic, December 13, 2025.– Canada, El Salvador, Cuba, and host nation Dominican Republic advanced to the men’s semifinals of the 2025 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour Finals in Juan Dolio. 

In one of the semifinals, Canada’s Samuel Schachter and Jonathan Pickette will face the Dominican Republic’s cousins Hayerling and Melvin De Jesús. The other semifinal will feature El Salvador’s twin brothers Christopher and Yoel Guardado against Cuba’s Damián Gómez and Eblis Veranes. 

In the quarterfinals, Schachter/Pickette defeated Venezuela’s Enyenser Delgado and Carlos Rivero in straight sets, 2-0 (21-10, 21-12). The De Jesús cousins advanced by overcoming Guatemala’s Edgar Maldonado and José Izaguirre 2-0 (21-19, 21-19).

The Guardado twins continued their strong run, defeating Central American rivals Francis Hauze and Edgar Martínez of Belize 2-0 (21-14, 21-8) to reach their second-ever Continental Tour semifinal appearance. 

Cuba’s Gómez/Veranes survived a tightly contested three-set battle to eliminate Mexico’s Inés Vargas Lares and Carlos Andres Ayala 2-1 (21-18, 19-21, 15-12). 

Earlier in the day, De Jesús/De Jesús secured first place in Pool A after defeating Belize’s Hauze/Martínez 2-0 (21-11, 21-12), while the Guardado twins claimed the top spot in Pool B with a 2-0 (21-12, 21-17) victory over Guatemala’s Maldonado/Izaguirre. 

Pool C was decided in a three-set contest, with Mexico’s Lares/Carlos Andres edging Venezuela’s Enyenser /Rivero 2-1 (21-18, 17-21, 15-13). Earlier in the pool, the Venezuelan duo had recorded a convincing 2-0 (21-9, 21-7) win over Antigua’s Cairon/Lugo. 

Schachter/Pickette finished atop Pool D with their third victory of the tournament, defeating USA’s Cory/Bradford 2-0 (21-16, 21-17). Gómez/Veranes advanced directly to the quarterfinals after receiving a bye when the U.S. Virgin Islands team of Mayer/Penberthy was unable to compete due to injury. 

Men’s competition resumes on Sunday with the semifinal matches starting at 8:45am (hora local), followed by placement games and the medal round.
