Canada, USA and TTO Men Undefeated in Bonaire NORCECA Beach Opening

BONAIRE, Bonaire, November 1, 2024.- Both teams from Canada and the United States, as well as Trinidad and Tobago go undefeated on opening of the seventh stage of the 2024 NORCECA Tour at the Rudy Boezen complex in Bonaire.

Martin Licht/Luke de Greef of Canada lead Pool A taking down their both opponents of the day. The Canadian duo started the off the competition beating Luiyi E. Morales Monsalve/Savyo Benjamin of Bonaire 2-0 (21-5, 21-14) and closed with a 2-0 (21-12, 21-13) win against Toro Maldonado/Thelion Coutinho of Aruba.

In the same pool, Stephen Enile and Isaac Theodore of Trinidad and Tobago opened the event defeating Aruba’s Maldonado/Coutinho 2-0 (21-14, 21-14), followed by a strong performance over Morales Monsalve/Savyo 2-0 (21-11, 21-9).

Licht/de Greef and Enile/Theodore will battle for first place of Pool A at 9:45 am on Saturday.

Jake MacNeil and Arran Chambers, also from Canada, brushed aside Haile-Emmanual Turney/Dominic Durant of Barbados 2-0 (21-11, 21-13) and Emmanuel Montenegro/Josue Mejía of Bonaire 2-0 (21-0, 21-3), in their undefeated record in Pool B.

MacNeil/Chambers will challenge USA’s Jake Urrutia and Wyatt Harrison to top their pool at 10:30 on Saturday. Urrutia/Harrisson earned a 2-0 (21-1, 21-2) win over Montenegro/Josue Mejia and a 2-0 (21-14, 21-13) against Turney/Dominic.

Charles Siragusa and John Schwengel of United States had to battle both their matches in three sets to stand 2-0 in Pool C. The Americans first beat William Clements/Garrett Bucklin of the U.S. Virgin Islands 2-1 (21-16, 15-21, 15-9) and won the last match in the men’s field 2-1 (21-18, 27-29, 15-12) over Andy Leonardo Blanco and Luis Garcia of Guatemala.

Earlier, the Guatemalan duo Blanco/Garcia beat Ethwinson Luis/Dimanche Elsevijf of Curaçao  2-0 (21-13, 21-11). Clements/Bucklin also beat Ethy/Elsevijf 2-0 (21-14, 21-12). Guatemala and the U.S. Virgin Islands will meet on Saturday at 9:45 am to determine their final position in Pool C.

After pool-play is completed on Saturday, the first two places of each pool and the best two third placed teams will play in the quarterfinals.
