TOKYO, Japan, August 1, 2021 – Canadians Heather
Bansley and Brandie Wilkerson have advanced to
the quarterfinals of the women’s volleyball
tournament of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games after
a grueling victory in three sets over Kelly
Claes and Sarah Sponcil of United States on
early Sunday.
Bansley and Wilkerson recovered from losing a
close first set and went on to claim the victory
2-1 (22-24, 21-18, 15-13).
In the men’s round of 16, Qatar’s Cherif
Yonousse and Ahmed Tijan overcame Americans Nick
Lucena and Phil Dalhausser 2-1 (14-21, 21-19,
15-11). |
