Canadians Humana and Pishcke grab three wins
in Mazatlan
MAZATLAN, Mexico, September 13, 2013- Melissa Humana and Taylor
Pishcke of Canada-A stormed past to claim three victories in
Pool A in the first day of actions at the Mazatlán Beach
Volleyball Tournament, the sixth stage of the 2013 NORCECA
Circuit.
The young Canadian pair, who won the gold medal in Varadero,
Cuba two weeks ago, confirmed their condition as one of the
favorite teams to contend for the title in this Mexican city
located at the Pacific Ocean coast.
Humana/Pishcke claimed a 2-0 (21-14, 21-15) victory over Vanessa
Virgen and Stephanie Burnside of Mexico-C, continued with a 2-1
(12-21, 21-15, 15-10) win against Traci Weamer and Allison
Fleming of USA-B and capped the day with a crushing 2-0 (21-12,
21-7) triumph over Paulina Woodroffe and Elki Phillip of
Trinidad & Tobago.
In Pool B, Heather Hughes and Lane Carico of USA-A breezed past
to a 2-0 (21-15, 21-13) victory over Karen Cope and Natalia
Alfaro of Costa Rica-B and downed Dariam Acevedo and Vanessa
Velez of Puerto Rico 2-0 (21-11, 21-16).
In Pool C, the Mexico-A team of Martha Revuelta and Bibi
Candelas won 2-0 (21-14, 21-16) over Kacie Mactavish and Caleigh
Whitaker of Canada-B and saw off compatriots Haydee Lopez and
Pamela Aguirre of Mexico-B 2-0 (21-12, 21-10).
