AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands, July 2, 2015 – Canada’s Sarah Pavan
and Heather Bansley breezed past Kazakhstan’s Tatyana Mashkova
and Irina Tsimbalova into the women’s quarterfinals of the FIVB
Beach Volleyball World Championships on Thursday in Amsterdam.
The Canadian duo were joined in the final-eight round by USA’s
Lauren Fendrick and Brooke Sweat who won their match against
Marta Menegatti and Viktoria Orsi of Italy in Rotterdam.
Pavan/Bansley won by score of 2-0 (21-15, 21-10) while Fendrick/Sweat
triumphed also 2-0 (21-18, 21-19).
The Canada’s team of Melissa Humana and Taylor Pischke lost to
Brazil’s Barbara Bednarczuc and Agatha Seixas 2-0 (21-15, 21-14)
while the USA’s duo of Kerri Walsh and April Ross lost a
three-set battle with China’s Fan Wang and Yuan Yue 2-1 (21-19,
17-21, 15-13). |
