Canadians excited about playing in front of home fans
MISSISSAUGA, Canada, May 15, 2014 – Canada are the favorites to
book the ticket to Italy when the NORCECA World Championship
Women’s Qualification Tournament Third-Round Pool S gets
underway on Friday at Hershey Centre.
Given their world and continental ranking and with the
enthusiastic support from the home crowd, the Canadians are
excited about their chances as it was expressed by Coach Arnd
Ludwig at the press conference held on Thursday here.
Arnd (Lupo) Ludwig – Canada’s Coach: “We had a very good
training year with this relatively new team. Our main goal is
to win and get to Italy. We are very excited to be playing here
in Canada and we need as much competitive experience possible to
prepare for the Grand Prix and the World Championships.”
Ortnel Findlay –Jamaica’s Coach: “Our goal is to win, to
qualify. We are hoping for the best and so far it was one of our
biggest successes just to get here.”
Jorge Azair –Mexico’s Coach: “This is a new team.. a new
beginning for this team. Our hope is to qualify, of course, and
not have to go through another qualifier. Since I was
previously the men’s coach, this is new also for me as a coach.”
Lucille Hobson, U.S. Virgin Islands Coach: “It is an honor for
us to be able to play in this third round.
