Cangrejeras Improve to 18-0 with
Straight-Sets Victory over Corozal

JUAN, Puerto Rico, March 13, 2026. – The Cangrejeras de Santurce
recorded their 18th win of the undefeated season in the Women’s
Superior Volleyball League (LVSF) by defeating the Pinkin de Corozal
3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-19) at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum, securing
the three available points from the match and reaching 51 points.
Corozal
remains in third place in the standings with a 9-10 record and 27
points.
Holding
a two-set advantage, the Cangrejeras reached the technical timeout
at 16-14 with a quick middle attack by Kara McGhee. Santurce
extended its lead to 20-15 with a zone-four attack by Helena Grozer,
a middle tip by Adriana Rodríguez, a successful outside hit by
Tamara Otene, and an ace from Grozer.
The
Cangrejeras reached set point at 24-19 with Grozer attacking off the
Corozal block, and on the following play they closed the set and the
match with a powerful middle attack by Kara McGhee.
Santurce
outperformed Corozal 47-35 in attacks, 10-5 in blocks, 5-2 in aces,
63-53 in digs, and 24-15 in assists. The Pinkin led 38-37 in
receptions.
Offensively for the Cangrejeras, Helena Grozer led with 15 points,
followed by Tamara Otene with 14, Andrea Rangel with 12, and Kara
McGhee with 10.
For
Corozal, Ivania Ortiz was the match’s top scorer with 17 points and
was the only player on her team to reach double digits.
Week
nine of LVSF action concludes this Sunday when Leonas de Ponce visit
the Cangrejeras de Santurce at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum
starting at 6:12 p.m. |
