Maintain Perfect Run with 15th Straight Victory
COROZAL, Puerto Rico, March 4, 2026. – The eighth and penultimate
week of the regular season in the Puerto Rican Women’s Superior
Volleyball League (LVSF) opened with the fifteenth consecutive win,
without defeat, for the Cangrejeras de Santurce, who defeated the
Pinkin de Corozal 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 26-24) on Wednesday night at
the legendary Carmen Z. Figueroa court.
Holding a two-set lead and ahead 23-18 in the third set, Santurce
saw Corozal respond with a 5-0 run that included a block by Adriana
Rodríguez on Helena Grozer, an ace by Rodríguez herself, a ball
Santurce failed to attack, another ace from Rodríguez, and a net
violation by the Crabbers to tie the set at 23.
There was another tie at 24, but Santurce managed to close out the
match and secure the victory in extra points with two consecutive
points: a service error by Jordan Iliff and a successful spike by
Kara McGhee.
With
the win, Cangrejeras collected the three available points to remain
undefeated with a 15-0 record and 41 accumulated points. Corozal,
meanwhile, earned no points in the loss and remains in second place
with a 9-8 record and 27 points.
Santurce’s offense was led by Helena Grozer, Kara McGhee and Tamara
Otene with 17, 15 and 10 points, respectively. For the Pinkin,
Jordan Iliff contributed 11 points, all on attacks.
Santurce outperformed Corozal 41-29 in attacks, 16-5 in blocks,
54-45 in digs and 17-12 in assists. Pinkin held a 4-1 advantage in
service aces and 32-28 in receptions over Corozal.
LVSF
action continues Thursday with one match: Leonas de Ponce (5-10, 16
points), in fifth place, host the Valencianas de Juncos (5-11, 15
points), who sit in sixth and last place, at Salvador Dijols court
starting at 8:00 p.m. |
