Cangrejeras One Win Away from Completing
an Undefeated LVSF Regular Season

JUAN, Puerto Rico, March 15, 2026. – Week nine of action in the
Women’s Superior Volleyball League (LVSF) concluded with the
nineteenth victory of the Cangrejeras de Santurce, who defeated the
Leonas de Ponce 3-0 (28-26, 25-17, 25-14) in their final home match
at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum.
With
the win, Santurce collected the three available points and moved to
within one victory (19-0 and 54 total points) of completing the
regular season undefeated.
Holding a two-set advantage, the Cangrejeras took control at the
second technical timeout of the third set with a 16-9 lead, thanks
to a block by Kara McGhee on Kristin Lux, who was attacking from
zone four.
Santurce extended its dominance with a triple block on Lux to make
it 18-11 and never looked back for the remainder of the set.
Santurce built a 10-point lead, 23-13, after a successful attack by
Helena Grozer. Set point came at 24-14 with a ball at the net
controlled by Neira Ortiz, and the victory was sealed at the next
rally when Leonas’ Stephanie Enright missed an attack from zone
four, sending the ball out of bounds.
The
Cangrejeras outperformed Ponce 48-41 in attacks, 10-2 in blocks, and
4-1 in service aces. Both teams recorded 56 digs, while the Leonas
held the edge in receptions (37-29) and assists (18-10).
Santurce’s offense was led by Tamara Otene, Andrea Rangel, and
Helena Grozer, who contributed 21, 14, and 13 points, respectively.
For
Ponce, Jordan Wilson was the only player in double digits with 12
points.
The
final week of the regular season will begin on Wednesday, March 18,
with two matches. The Cangrejeras de Santurce will visit the
Atenienses de Manatí at the Juan Aubín Cruz Coliseum at 8:30 p.m.,
while the Valencianas de Juncos will face the Criollas de Caguas at
the Roger Mendoza Vidal Coliseum at 8:20 p.m. |
