Cangrejeras remain unbeaten, Valencianas
defend home court in five sets
CAGUAS, Puerto Rico, February 5, 2026. – Thursday’s action in the
Women’s Superior Volleyball League featured two parallel storylines:
at Roger Mendoza Coliseum, the Cangrejeras de Santurce once again
defeated the Criollas de Caguas, while at Rafael G. Amalbert
Coliseum, the Valencianas de Juncos successfully defended their home
court by overcoming the Atenienses de Manatí in a dramatic five-set
battle.
Santurce dominates Caguas again
The Cangrejeras secured the win with scores of 25-22, 25-16, 20-25,
25-18, earning the three available points to improve their unbeaten
record to 4-0 and reach 11 points, placing them third in the
standings.
Santurce displayed a balanced offense with four players scoring in
double figures. Mexico’s Andrea Rangel led with 18 points (14 kills,
3 blocks, 1 ace). She was followed by Tamara Otene with 16, Kara
McGhee with 14, and Helena Grozer with 13.
For Caguas, local players Diana Reyes and Genesis Collazo carried
the offense with 14 and 12 points, respectively. Despite the loss,
the Criollas remain in first place with a 6-2 record and 16
accumulated points.
In team statistics, Santurce outperformed Caguas in attacks (60-39),
blocks (14-13), aces (5-1), digs (88-74), receptions (45-34), and
assists (24-14).
Valencianas defend home court in a five-set thriller
In Juncos, the Valencianas defeated the Atenienses with scores of
12-25, 25-23, 25-23, 15-25, 16-14, earning their second victory of
the season. With the result, they improved to 2-5 with 5 points,
tying for fifth place with the Leonas de Ponce.
Manatí, despite the loss, gained one point to remain in fourth place
with a 2-5 record and 10 points.
Juncos’ offense was led by Naya Gross (20 points), Marcelle Báez
Carlo (16), and Haley Bush (11). For the Atenienses, Shea Rubright
stood out with 23 points, followed by Karla Santos (18), Emily
Elliot (17), and Chareika Carrión (13).
